IONA - P&O Cruises

Iona is worldwide one of the first cruise ships which is equipped with a LNG impulse. LNG stands for Liquefied Natural gas, it concerns deep-frozen liquid natural gas. With the ecologically friendly technology the output can be avoided by sulphur dioxides and soot particles. The engine room module with the LNG tanks has, by the way, the Rostock NEPTUNE THROW made which also belongs to the group MEYER.

In May, 2019 the professional forces of the MEYER have THROW Iona on Kiel laid, in spring, 2020 it should be delivered to the shipping company P&O Cruises. The luxury liner will offer place for 5,200 passengers. Eight specials restaurants and four swimming pools expect the guests. The atrium glazed more than three decks provides for a fantastic view. With 337-metre length Iona will belong to the biggest cruise ships of the world.

Increase planned: The MEYER THROW builds a total of two new ships for the shipping company P&O Cruises. The sister's ship of Iona should cruise from spring, 2022 through the oceans.
